This year, I had a colonoscopy, and it was an eye-opening experience. Watching the inside of my own body on the screen was humbling. It reminded me how beautifully God designed us, and how much care our internal systems deserve.
Chewing: Where Digestion Really Begins
One major reminder from that experience is that digestion doesn’t start in the stomach; it starts in the mouth. If we rush our food and don’t chew properly (at least 20 times per bite), we’re only creating extra stress for our organs.
Respecting the Process:
When we chew well, we’re not just making digestion easier; we’re allowing our bodies to truly absorb nutrients, fuel our cells, and clear waste effectively. The gut is central to our health and keeping it clean and cared for is essential.
A Spiritual Perspective:
Looking inside my body reminded me that caring for my health is also a way of honouring the God who created me. When we treat our bodies kindly, they serve us better in return.
